Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora sits on its own motu at the edge of the lagoon, with Mount Otemanu rising across the water from many of its 108 overwater bungalows. Seven beachfront villa estates with private pools, a spa reached by walkways over the lagoon and a protected lagoon sanctuary looked after by a marine biologist make it one of the most complete resorts in French Polynesia.

Details
Motu Tehotu and Mount Otemanu
Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora opened in 2008 on Motu Tehotu, a coral islet on the eastern side of Bora Bora’s lagoon, facing Mount Otemanu across some of the clearest water in French Polynesia. The resort was updated in 2019 and 2020, adding new overwater bungalows, more private plunge pools and seven beachfront villa estates. Guests arrive on the resort’s own boat, about 15 minutes from Bora Bora Airport, and a water taxi runs to Vaitape on the main island for those who want to explore. Papeete on Tahiti, the gateway for international flights, is a 45-minute flight away.
Overwater Bungalows and Beachfront Villa Estates
There are 115 keys: 108 overwater bungalows and seven beachfront villa estates. The one-bedroom overwater bungalows measure 100 square metres, with lagoon, beach or mountain views, and many have their own plunge pool. The Otemanu Bungalow, at 147 square metres, looks straight at the mountain, and the two-bedroom Herenui and Poerava bungalows sleep up to six with a plunge pool.
The beachfront villa estates range from one to three bedrooms, each with a private pool and garden. The Two-Bedroom Premier Villa Estate adds an infinity pool and an outdoor kitchen, and the Three-Bedroom Premier Villa Estate covers a full acre on the beach, with 500 square metres of living space. Four- and five-bedroom configurations can also be arranged for larger groups, which suits multi-generation trips.
Te Mahana Spa and the Lagoon Sanctuary
Te Mahana Spa sits at the lagoon’s edge, reached by raised walkways, with seven treatment rooms, two open-air pavilions and an overwater couples’ suite with glass panels in the floor. Treatments draw on Polynesian rituals with monoi oil and black pearl, and there is a sauna, steam room, vitality pool, gym and lagoon-side yoga, with myBlend and ISUN facials among the newer treatments. Within the resort, a protected inner lagoon is home to more than 100 marine species, and the marine biology team leads snorkelling, coral planting and fish feeding, which suits first-time snorkellers and children alike. Guests can also adopt a coral and follow its growth after they leave. Kids For All Seasons welcomes children aged 5 to 12.
Restaurants and Bars at Four Seasons Bora Bora
Arii Moana serves Mediterranean cooking by the water, Fare Hoa is the beach grill for seafood and steak, and Vaimiti, built over the lagoon, pairs Asian dishes with sunset cocktails. Tere Nui hosts breakfast and themed dinners with views of Otemanu, including Italian evenings at Bella Vita, and Oro’a is a Polynesian set dinner with music and fire dancing. In-bungalow dining runs around the clock, and breakfast can arrive by canoe. The concierge also arranges sailing, kitesurfing, diving and day trips to the pearl farms and vanilla plantations of Taha’a. The resort holds Two Michelin Keys.
Why Book Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora with Berkeley Travel

Your Travel Designer chooses the right bungalow or villa for your dates, arranges flights via Papeete and a night in Tahiti if your arrival needs one, and can add other islands of French Polynesia to the trip. For another Four Seasons island escape, see Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giravaaru.
Bora Bora’s dry season, from May to October, is the busiest time of year, and the two-bedroom bungalows and villa estates are the first to go, so we suggest booking six to nine months ahead for those dates.
