Details
The resort occupies one of Miyakojima’s most peaceful settings on the northern coast and overlooks the blue waters of Oura Bay from its stunning shores, which enjoy direct access to a secluded beach and are surrounded by the natural landscapes of Okinawa’s southern Ryukyu Islands.
Architecture and interiors take their inspiration from the island itself, combining modern Japanese minimalism with the heritage of the Ryukyu Islands. Local limestone is used across the property with warm textures and Japanese character to create calming spaces.
Rosewood Miyakojima’s 55 villas and houses are all positioned to directly face the ocean and enjoy views from spacious windows. Private pools and indoor-outdoor living spaces further accentuate the accommodation, with the larger two-bedroom houses also benefiting from separate dining areas.
Across the resort, the tranquil Asaya Spa is a sanctuary in itself and sees therapies inspired by Japanese healing traditions combined with botanicals and ancient techniques, along with facilities that span an outdoor heated vitality pool, hydrotherapy areas and a 24-hour fitness centre.
One of the most prominent features of the resort is its stunning infinity pool, which overlooks the blue waters beyond the island. Activities also range from exploring the aquatic coastline through snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding. Children are also well catered for with the Rosewood Explorers programme and a designated kids’ pool.
There are four places to eat and drink, all built around the island’s produce and seafood. CHOMA offers a refined take on Miyakojima’s seasonal harvest, NAGI serves all-day Italian dishes with views over the Miyako Blue sea, MAAS focuses on seafood and simple ingredients, and YUKUU is the poolside bar.
Rosewood Miyakojima makes a natural end to a longer trip through Japan. Many of our clients spend a few nights at Janu Tokyo or Aman Kyoto before flying south to the island.

Planning Your Stay at Rosewood Miyakojima: Frequently Asked Questions
Our dedicated Travel Designers have answered the most frequently asked questions about Rosewood Miyakojima. Booking with Berkeley Travel entitles you to extra benefits and inclusions, as we are a Rosewood Elite-appointed agency.
Rosewood Miyakojima sits on a secluded peninsula in the north of Miyako Island, in Okinawa, among sugarcane fields and overlooking Oura Bay. Miyako Airport is around 20 minutes away by car.
The resort’s Asaya Spa features six private treatment rooms, a vitality pool, hot plunge pools, sauna and steam rooms, alongside a relaxation lounge and wellness studio.
The resort is very well suited to families and offers a dedicated Rosewood Explorers programme for children between the ages of four and twelve with activities and workshops inspired by Miyakojima’s nature and culture.
Yes. The resort has direct access to a secluded beach on Oura Bay, with calm, clear water for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding, and an infinity pool beside the sand.
Fly into Miyako Airport, which has direct flights from Tokyo Haneda, taking around three hours, and from Naha on Okinawa’s main island, taking about 50 minutes. The resort is around a 20-minute drive from the airport, and we arrange a private transfer to meet you on arrival.
April, July and October are the best months, with warm sea and settled weather, and March, May, November and December are also good. The rainy season usually runs from mid-May to late June, and August and September bring the highest chance of typhoons, so we watch the forecast closely when booking those months.
We suggest four to five nights, which leaves time for the beach, a boat trip, the Asaya Spa and the restaurants. Most clients combine the island with Tokyo or Kyoto, and ten to fourteen nights in Japan in total works well.
As a Rosewood Elite agency, we include daily breakfast for two, an upgrade on arrival where available and a welcome amenity, with property-specific extras such as a hotel credit, at the same rate as booking direct. Your Travel Designer also arranges flights within Japan, private transfers and restaurant bookings.
