Setting and location
The Dorchester has stood on Park Lane since 1931, looking across Hyde Park from the western edge of Mayfair. Bond Street, Knightsbridge and Buckingham Palace are a short walk or drive away, yet the park opposite gives the hotel a sense of calm that few central London addresses can match. A recent renovation has restored the glamour of its past, with interiors inspired by the English country garden.
Step out of the front door and Hyde Park is a minute away, with the Serpentine and Kensington Gardens beyond. In the other direction, the galleries, restaurants and shops of Mayfair begin in the streets behind the hotel.
There are 171 rooms and 67 suites, including two penthouses, decorated in a soft floral palette. Park View rooms and suites look over the treetops of Hyde Park, and they are the ones we request most often for our clients. Rooms on the Mayfair side are quieter and look over the rooftops, and we will always tell you which is which before you book. Bathrooms are finished in marble throughout.
Among the signature suites, the Oliver Messel suite keeps the theatrical designs of the stage designer who created it, and the Royal Suite, relaunched in spring 2026 with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon, occupies a corner of the eighth floor. It has a private dining room for ten overlooking Hyde Park and the Serpentine, and connects to up to four bedrooms for families travelling together.
Spa and wellness
The Dorchester Spa is a quiet retreat within the hotel. Since 2026 its facials have been by La Prairie, including the signature 1931 The Dorchester Skin Caviar Ritual, alongside massages, body treatments, a hair salon and a fitness centre. The SPAtisserie, a pale, curtained lounge within the spa, serves light dishes and afternoon treats between treatments. Afterwards, Hyde Park is the place for a walk, and our concierge team can arrange a personal trainer for a morning run in the park.
Dining and bars
Dining is one of the main reasons to stay. Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester holds three Michelin stars in the 2026 guide, led by Chef Patron Jean-Philippe Blondet with Executive Chef Stéphane Petit. China Tang serves Cantonese cuisine in Art Deco surroundings, and The Grill at The Dorchester is the place for British classics.
Afternoon tea in The Promenade is a London institution, Vesper Bar is the hotel’s cocktail bar, and the Artists’ Bar is built around a mirrored grand piano. Cake & Flowers, the hotel’s patisserie and florist, opened on Park Lane in 2023, and Parcafé offers more relaxed all-day dining. We can secure tables at Alain Ducasse and China Tang when you book your stay, which is worth doing for weekends and the run-up to Christmas.
