The resort design borrows from this theme, with turtle motifs, and the colours and patterns of turtle shell. From a broader “bird’s eye view” which greets arrivals by seaplane, the island’s exclusive over-water villas are also constructed to resemble the head of a turtle, with the island forming the body.

The private-island hideaway in the Maldives’ Noonu Atoll, Velaa Private Island was conceived as a passion project to create the world’s most luxurious island retreat.
