Details
As one of the most uniquely located safari camps in northern Botswana, Wilderness DumaTau offers prime views of the region’s most spectacular wildlife, set above the waters of Osprey Lagoon.
Composed of eight expansive tented suites, the camp is an exclusive retreat located directly within the natural habitats of the species inhabiting the surrounding swamps and waterways. Each suite is raised above the ground and elevated on timber walkways to extend the captivating views. Finely crafted, they seamlessly integrate with the surrounding landscape.
Locally sourced materials and handcrafted fabrics further showcase African influences, while each villa is finished with indoor and outdoor showers and a private plunge pool.
Botswana’s explorer heritage is brought to life through compelling, expert-led activities. Twice-daily game drives offer immersive encounters with Linyanti’s dense elephant population, with herds frequently crossing the waterways.
Wild dogs and lions freely roam the untamed woodlands and floodplains alongside other predators, with frequent sightings led by skilled rangers during the drives. Itineraries can be tailored to include additional activities such as fishing, boating, and birdwatching from a
slow-moving barge.
The camp’s Osprey Retreat also provides a sanctuary devoted to wellness in the wilderness. It sits alongside a well-equipped gym and lap pool and offers a tailored menu of treatments focused on botanicals and holistic therapies.
Location
Wilderness DumaTau
Wilderness DumaTau is set in Botswana’s private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, on Osprey Lagoon between the Linyanti River and the Savuti Channel in the country’s far north. The camp is accessed by light aircraft to DumaTau’s airstrip—approximately 45–60 minutes from Maun or 30–45 minutes from Kasane—followed by a short game-drive transfer (with seasonal boat transfers possible). International travellers typically connect to Maun or Kasane via Johannesburg or Cape Town, with additional links through Victoria Falls or Livingstone, providing convenient access to the Linyanti.
