Bespoke luxury holidays to Kenya, tailor-made by our specialist travel advisors.

Tailor-Made Luxury Kenya Holidays & Safari Experiences

The plane banks low over a dirt airstrip, and a Land Cruiser is already waiting at the end of it, engine running. From there, the safari begins before the bags have even left the aircraft.

Nothing about that moment is left to chance, and it sets the tone for everything Berkeley plans in Kenya. Everything we plan is specific, considered, and built around what our clients actually want to see and do, rather than a fixed route through the same three parks.

Discover the Heart of Africa with a Bespoke Travel Agency

A bespoke African safari holiday starts long before the first game drive. Our travel designers map out camps, guides and timings against a client’s interests, whether that is big cat sightings, walking safaris, conservation work or simply time away from a screen.

Kenya sits within a wider African portfolio for Berkeley, and our recommendations are shaped by properties our team has visited and guides we know personally.

The Great Migration & Top Destinations for Luxury Safari Holidays

Kenya’s reputation for luxury safari holidays rests on a handful of regions, each offering something distinct. Choosing between them is really a question of what a client wants from their days: density of wildlife, privacy, or a specific kind of landscape. Our safari specialists build the itinerary around that answer rather than the other way round.

From Giraffe Manor to Premium Eco-Lodges

Some properties earn their reputation simply by being unlike anywhere else. Giraffe Manor, just outside Nairobi, is one of them. It is a manor house modelled on a Scottish hunting lodge where endangered Rothschild giraffes wander the grounds and occasionally put their heads through the breakfast room windows.

Further into the bush, a newer generation of eco-lodges has taken a more considered approach to building in wild landscapes, using local materials and low-impact design without giving up on comfort.

The Ultimate Bush and Beach Escapes

Kenya rarely needs to be only a safari. Many of our clients extend a Kenyan itinerary with several days on the coast, using the contrast deliberately. Dust and early starts followed by heat, stillness and the Indian Ocean.

Mozambique for a Post-Safari Coastal Retreat

For a quieter finish to a Kenyan safari, some clients choose to travel further afield to Sussurro, set on the secluded Nhamabue Peninsula in southern Mozambique. The property comprises just six private bungalows, each individually designed, alongside a lodge built around a lap pool, open-plan dining and social spaces, and a small library and art gallery.

An open-air yoga deck sits above the water for anyone wanting to end the day there rather than at the bar. Reaching it takes longer than the short flight from Nairobi to Kenya’s own coast, but for clients drawn to a retreat this private, the extra distance tends to be part of the appeal rather than a downside.

Kisawa Sanctuary sits further out again, on the southern tip of Benguerra Island within Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago, reached by boat or light aircraft rather than road.

It comprises eight residences spread across 300 hectares of forest. Each has its own stretch of beach, a private pool, and living space built around the surrounding trees rather than in place of them. The reefs just offshore are as much a part of the appeal as the beach itself, known locally for their coral cover and the range of marine life.

Timing Your Trip for the Great Wildebeest Migration

For clients specifically chasing the Great Migration, the wildebeest typically arrive in Kenya’s Masai Mara from around July, having crossed north from the Serengeti. The Mara River crossings, the images most people associate with the Migration, tend to peak between August and September, before the herds begin moving south again from October. Exact timing shifts year to year with the rains, so we build in flexibility rather than betting an entire itinerary on a single week.
