Dating back to the early 1960s, the legendary hotel was originally designed by architect Jacques Couëlle and is set in a privileged location, overlooking the stunning backdrop of the Costa Smeralda, with the fashionable shopping village and marina of Porto Cervo just a short distance away.

July and August bring the Costa Smeralda at its most glamorous — and most in demand — while late May, June and September offer warm seas, open restaurants and noticeably calmer rates. The hotel is one of the Mediterranean’s great dining destinations: Matsuhisa Cala di Volpe brings Nobu Matsuhisa’s Japanese-Peruvian cuisine to the waterfront, alongside fine dining at Les Grands, Beefbar, the famed poolside barbecue, and a 20-seat farm-to-table experience in the kitchen garden. Matsuhisa Beach, five minutes away by boat, is the lunch spot of the Costa Smeralda.
Very — unusually so for a hotel this glamorous. Connecting rooms and suites, a children’s playground, a football academy, and a kitchen garden with resident chickens and goats keep younger guests as well looked after as their parents. Add the Olympic-sized seawater pool and calm, shallow bay, and it works as beautifully for a family August as for a couple’s September escape.
