Details
More than an idyllic beachfront paradise, Kisawa is built on an ethos of conservation and community, with responsible practices in place to ensure its environmental impact is minimised.
Working closely with the Bazaruto Centre for Scientific Studies, the sanctuary has been thoughtfully developed to seamlessly blend in with the surrounding ecosystem.
Designed to feel like an intimate home, the resort has eight masterfully designed residences dotted along its expansive plains, ranging from one-bedroom suites to larger two- and three-bedroom accommodations well suited to families.
Each residence is a masterpiece of escapism and benefits from direct access to the private beach, swimming pools and well-appointed living spaces. Kisawa’s team of dedicated butlers provide on-demand services to ensure every stay is seamless and stress-free.
Dining across the resort offers an immersive take on regional influences and local produce, with three restaurants serving innovative African cuisine, seafood and pizzas from the on-site tuk-tuk, inspired by Maputo street food.
The pinnacle of Kisawa is its natural wellness centre, a mecca of healing rituals and holistic treatments encompassing tailored programmes that integrate Ayurvedic techniques with traditional therapies, alongside a yoga studio, gym and 25-metre lagoon pool.
The resort’s extensive activities have been curated to ignite the senses and are rooted in exploring the island across land and sea, with experiences including guided hikes, snorkelling and birdwatching.
Location
Benguerra Island
Kisawa Sanctuary is on Benguerra Island in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago, a protected marine park in the Indian Ocean. Spanning roughly 300 hectares of coastal dunes, forest, and white-sand beach along the island’s southwest shore, it faces the Mozambique Channel with views toward Bazaruto and Magaruque islands. Access is via Vilanculos on the mainland: a 10–15 minute helicopter hop or a 35–60 minute boat transfer, depending on tides and weather.
