Details
Gwanghwamun, beside the palaces
The hotel sits on Saemunan-ro in Jongno-gu, the old royal quarter of Seoul. Gyeongbokgung Palace is a few blocks to the north, and Gwanghwamun Square, the Sejong Cultural Center and the Cheonggyecheon Stream are all a few minutes on foot. Bukchon Hanok Village, with its lanes of traditional wooden houses, is a short walk or taxi ride away, and Myeong-dong’s shops are close by. Incheon International Airport is about 80 minutes by car, and Gimpo about an hour. For a first visit it is the best base in the city: the palaces, museums and old neighbourhoods are on foot, and Gangnam is about half an hour by car.
Heerim Architects designed the building and LTW Designworks the rooms and public spaces, and more than 160 contemporary artworks hang throughout the hotel. It feels calm and residential for a city-centre hotel of this size, which is a large part of its appeal after a day in Seoul.
Rooms and suites
Four Seasons says its rooms are the largest in Seoul. Deluxe Rooms start at 41 to 45 square metres, Corner Premier Rooms are 56, and the Grand Family Room, at 75 square metres, has city and mountain views. Of the 32 suites, the Palace-View Executive Suite (72 square metres) looks straight over Gyeongbokgung through floor-to-ceiling windows, the Ambassador One-Bedroom Suite (115) has corner views to N Seoul Tower, and the Presidential Three-Bedroom Suite runs to 413 square metres. Club Rooms include access to the Club Lounge.
Spa, pools and Korean sauna
The Korean-inspired spa has seven treatment rooms, a Turkish hammam and a nail bar. There are three indoor pools, all free for hotel guests: a mosaic-tiled swimming pool, a heated vitality pool and a children’s plunge pool. The Korean sauna on the ninth floor has hot, warm and cold baths, wet and dry saunas and views towards the palace, with traditional body scrubs and massages to book. The fitness centre spans three floors, with a Pilates studio and an indoor golf zone.
Yu Yuan, Charles H. and the other restaurants
There are eight restaurants and bars. Yu Yuan, the Cantonese restaurant designed by André Fu, holds a Michelin star in the 2025 and 2026 Seoul guides and is known for its Beijing duck. Akira Back serves Japanese cooking with a Korean accent, Boccalino is the Italian, and The Market Kitchen is the international buffet. Maru, the lobby lounge, serves Korean favourites through the day. Downstairs, Charles H. is a hidden cocktail bar, named the best bar in Korea in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022, and within it the eight-seat H. Bar serves a course-style cocktail menu. In the warmer months the Garden Terrace on the 15th floor opens for drinks outside.

Yes, three, all indoors and free for hotel guests: a mosaic-tiled swimming pool, a heated vitality pool and a children’s plunge pool. There is also a Korean sauna on the ninth floor, which carries a separate charge.
April and May, for spring blossom and mild days, and late September to early November, for clear skies and autumn colour. July and August are hot and humid, with most of the year’s rain, and winter is cold and dry, though the palaces are beautiful in snow.
We suggest three to five nights. That allows time for the palaces and Bukchon, a day trip to the DMZ, the markets and a dinner at Yu Yuan. Many clients then continue to Japan, a short flight away.
There are eight: Yu Yuan, the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant; Akira Back, Japanese with a Korean accent; Boccalino, Italian; The Market Kitchen, an international buffet; Maru, the lobby lounge; Charles H. and H. Bar, for cocktails; and Confections, the hotel’s pastry shop.
Yes. There are family rooms of up to 75 square metres, connecting rooms, a children’s plunge pool and a Kids For All Seasons lounge with play and cooking sessions, which are booked and charged separately. Cribs and children’s menus are available on request.
