Four Seasons Private Jet

The aircraft

The jet is an Airbus A321neo fitted out for 48 guests where an airline would seat around 200. Each seat is Italian leather, converts to a fully flat bed and has two metres of personal space. The lounge in the sky at the front of the cabin is where the journey happens between destinations: talks from the expedition guides, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, and the conversations that turn 48 strangers into a group. Journeys are planned to avoid overnight flights, so most nights are spent in a Four Seasons bed rather than at 38,000 feet.

Dining on board is run by an executive chef who travels with the jet and cooks from the destination just left, served on restaurant tableware with a full wine list. All drinks are included in the air.

The crew and the hotels

A crew of fourteen travels with the group: Four Seasons cabin crew, a journey concierge, the chef, expert guides for each region and a journey physician. Luggage is handled from hotel to jet to hotel and is in the room before you are. Excursions are in small groups of six to eight with private guides, and private alternatives can be arranged.

Every night is at a Four Seasons hotel in the highest category of deluxe room, and the hotels are the reason to choose this over any other private jet tour: Four Seasons Kyoto, Bali at Sayan, Serengeti, Bora Bora, Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, Marrakech, Florence and the rest of the portfolio, with the service running through as if it were one long stay.

The journeys for 2027 and 2028

Nine journeys are scheduled across 2027 and 2028, most of 19 to 24 days and two shorter ones of 13 to 17 days, departing in the northern winter and autumn from Los Angeles, Seattle, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Lisbon, Kona and Napa. Prices are per person and include the flights on the jet, every hotel night, all meals from the welcome dinner to the final breakfast, drinks on board, excursions, guides, ground transport and the physician. International flights to the departure city and home from the end city are not included, and we arrange those.

They fall into three kinds. The round-the-world journeys of three weeks or more, such as World of Adventures (Seattle to Los Angeles by way of Kyoto, Bali, the Seychelles, Rwanda, Marrakech, Bogota and the Galapagos), Ancient Explorer (Mexico City, Easter Island, Bora Bora, the Great Barrier Reef, Bangkok, Cairo and Taormina, ending in London) and Grand Horizons (Napa to Montreal through Tokyo, Ha Long Bay, Istanbul, Milan, Geneva and Mallorca), from around US$225,000 to US$239,000. The regional journeys of two weeks, such as Asia Unveiled (Tokyo, Bali, Angkor Wat, Hoi An, Bhutan and the Maldives to Bangkok) and African Wonders (Lisbon and Cairo, the Serengeti, Mauritius, Rwanda and Victoria Falls to Johannesburg), from around US$167,000. And the ones built around a single place you cannot otherwise reach in comfort: Uncharted Discovery, which runs from Machu Picchu and Buenos Aires to Antarctica and back up through Cartagena, and is already on waitlist for January 2027.

International Intrigue, New World Icons and Timeless Encounters sit between, each three weeks across three or four continents. Several journeys repeat in 2028 with a change of one or two stops. Who the journeys suit

The jet suits people who want to see a great deal without the friction of getting between places: no queues, no airport hotels, no thinking about the next flight. Solo travellers are well looked after, with the same rooms and experiences and a group to eat with every evening. Most journeys are for adults; children of twelve and over can be considered on some departures. Guests should be able to manage a full day of touring, and the physician on board is for reassurance rather than a sign that the trips are strenuous.

The group size of 48 matters. It is small enough that the guides know everyone by the second day and large enough to be sociable without being a tour.
