Four Seasons Resort Tangier

Four Seasons announced on 8 October 2026 that it will open Four Seasons Resort Tangier, a cliffside resort in the Royal Resort Cap Malabata district on Morocco’s northern coast. It is the brand’s fourth Moroccan property, and the first in the one part of the country that luxury travel has mostly overlooked. Our Travel Designers have been waiting for northern Morocco to get a hotel of this calibre; here is what has been announced, what it means, and how we will book it.

What Four Seasons Has Announced

The resort will sit where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, looking across the Strait of Gibraltar to Spain. The announcement confirms:

  • 99 rooms and suites, including 27 standalone villas
  • More than 260 metres of waterfront
  • Architecture by Arjitec and interiors by Goddard Littlefair, the London studio behind some of the most admired recent hotel interiors in Europe
  • Four restaurants, a full-service spa and fitness centre, extensive pools and waterfront lounging
  • The brand’s Kids For All Seasons programme, which signals a resort designed for families as well as couples
  • Event spaces indoors and out, for weddings and celebrations with the Strait as backdrop
  • 15 minutes from Tangier’s high-speed rail station and 45 minutes from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport

The development is backed by GFH, the Bahrain-based financial group, through Royal Resort Cap Malabata, a wider luxury masterplan for the headland east of the city. No opening date has been announced; projects of this scale in Morocco typically take three to four years from announcement, and we will update this page as dates firm up.

Why Tangier, and Why Now

For decades Tangier was the city luxury travellers passed through rather than stayed in. That has been changing fast. The high-speed Al Boraq line connects it to Casablanca in just over two hours, the port has been rebuilt as a marina, and Royal Mansour opened its Tamuda Bay resort along the coast to the east, proving that the northern shore can carry the top of the market. Four Seasons arriving is the confirmation.

The geography is the point. From Cap Malabata you look at another continent. Tarifa and the Andalusian coast are a short ferry across the Strait, which opens an itinerary no other Four Seasons can offer: Seville or the Costa del Sol one week, Tangier and the Rif the next, without a flight. For clients who find Marrakech’s intensity too much for a whole holiday, Tangier gives Morocco a cooler, greener, sea-facing second act.

One date worth marking: on 2 August 2027, Tangier sits under the path of the total solar eclipse, with nearly five minutes of totality, among the longest anywhere outside Egypt. The resort will almost certainly not be open in time, but the announcement puts Tangier on the map for exactly the kind of traveller who plans that far ahead.

Four Seasons in Morocco: The Collection Now

Tangier joins three established Four Seasons in Morocco. Four Seasons Resort Marrakech remains the family favourite, with its gardens and pools a short drive from the medina. Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca gives the business capital a proper beachfront address, and Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr occupies a restored royal palace by the sea. With Tangier, a Four Seasons-only Moroccan itinerary becomes possible for the first time: Marrakech for the south, Rabat and Casablanca on the Atlantic, Tangier for the Strait.

How Berkeley Will Book It

Every Four Seasons stay booked through Berkeley Travel carries Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits: daily breakfast for two, a hotel credit, a room upgrade subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out, and VIP recognition on arrival, all at the same rate as booking direct. New Four Seasons openings are where those benefits matter most, because the first season of any great hotel is when upgrades are generous and the team is most eager to impress. We register interest with Four Seasons for new properties as soon as they are announced, and clients who tell us now will hear first when Tangier opens for bookings.
